The Position:

The Corporate Controller is responsible for the overall financial functions of the organization, including corporate entity controllership, owner of the organizational chart, financial consolidation and reporting, tax strategy/forecasting, tax, audit, and insurance compliance liaison with external accountants/advisors, treasury management and lead refining/designing best practices for accounting process and procedures.

This role also will lead the corporate accountant team that handles the transactional aspects of AP, AR, draws, corporate activities and treasury. They will have ownership of many key cash flow processes that receive eyesight up to the C-Suite. The successful candidate will need to be highly organized with experience in complex organizational environments, implementing best practices and automation to sustain scalable operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Controllership of the corporate entities (investment company, management company and ancillary operating companies).
  • Coordination of tax compliance in conjunction with strategic tax planning and forecasting for cash flow projections and overall organizational makeup.
  • Consolidation of total organization into divisions, consolidated ownership entities, and total consolidation. Lead the elimination entries for proper consolidation.
  • Owner of the organizational chart and entity creation process.
  • Review, monitor and maintain strong internal controls and accounting related policies and procedures with an eye toward streamlining procedures where possible.
  • Manage employees responsible for financial reporting, AP, AR, payroll, distributions, intercompany loans, and budget processes.
  • Collaborate with various internal business partners, including finance, tax, property management and ownership, answering questions and providing financial and accounting guidance as needed.
  • Coordination with the insurance brokers for total organization insurance coverage and allocation of costs to entities. Including managing captive insurance type plans.
  • Assist the Senior Vice President of Accounting & Administration in new operations setup, automation projects, and overall accounting guidance to the broader accounting team.
  • Review and ultimately be accountable for month-end close process, supervising the accountants through the process and holding them accountable.
  • Report to the Senior Vice President of Accounting & Administration on a frequent basis to keep him current and obtain his input and/or approval on key decisions.
  • Coordinate audits and annual reviews by outside accountants.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of public or industry accounting relatable experience.
  • CPA required.
  • Must have direct tax experience with partnership pass-through entities and at least facilitation experience in tax compliance (Federal and State returns).
  • Strong working knowledge of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles in the preparation of financial statements and in accounting for transactions of the Company.
  • Direct experience in financial consolidation of moderately complex org charts.
  • Ability to analyze, produce and interpret financial and budget reports.
  • Experience in automation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Proven management and leadership skills to develop a large team of top performers.
  • Experience in implementing systems and scaling processes.
  • Advanced user in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Proficient in accounting software Vena, and/or Newstar preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional manner and a strong ethical code.
  • Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
